Ruahan received his Optometry qualification from the Rand Afrikaans University in 1990. From national service at St John's Eye Hospital to practising with Lesedi Clinic and Oxford Optometrists, his journey is built on decades of hands-on expertise. In 1999, he furthered his knowledge with advanced certification from the New England College of Optometry in Boston.
A true visionary, Ruahan founded Dynamic Vision — now South Africa's leading independent optometry group. He heads up East Rand Mall Optometrists alongside Mina Abbatemarco, bringing over 35 years of expertise to every patient he sees.

Mina completed her Bachelor's in Optometry at the Rand Afrikaans University in 1992, followed by advanced certification from the New England College of Optometry. With a particular specialisation in contact lenses, particularly rigid gas permeable and scleral lenses. She brings exceptional technical skill to each consultation.
Working alongside Ruahan, Mina co-heads East Rand Mall Optometrists, combining clinical excellence with an impeccable eye for stylish, well-fitted frames. Her patients benefit from both depth of knowledge and genuine personal care.
Mina also lectures in Optometry at the University of Johannesburg (UJ), a testament to her expertise and commitment to advancing the profession in South Africa.

Marinella graduated with her Optometry qualification from Rand Afrikaans University in 1996. She then spent nine years as a roving optometrist with the Stanley & De Kock group, building broad clinical experience across diverse practice environments. She later co-ran her own practice at Wedge Optometrists in Sandton before joining East Rand Mall Optometrists in 2011.
Known for her warmth, thoroughness, and genuinely caring approach, Marinella treats every patient as an individual. She is always service with a smile, and her patients consistently return for that reason.
